Position: Service Engineer

Reporting to: Service Manager

 

1. Key purpose and responsibilities of role: 

  • Understand the application of the management systems that control Occupational Health and Safety (OHAS), Quality (QMS) and Environmental Management (EMS) and the impact regards compliance to auditable accreditations: 45001/18001, 9001 and 14001 

  • Adhere to all company policies and objectives, ensuring all aspects of health, safety and environment are followed 

  • Review/complete all relevant risk assessments, work methods, etc. for tasks being undertaken, ensuring that all Safe Systems of Work, risk control measures, are understood and followed 

  • Ensure all risks are eliminated or at least mitigated 

  • Day to day attendance to carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on our service portfolio, attending call outs as assigned. Complete an engineer’s report detailing work undertaken before leaving site

  • Carry out minor repair work as required 

  • Participate in the company’s 24 hr call out rota 

  • Manage your own service route with minimum supervision. Where specified by the customer, ensure maintenance appointments are made in advance of your arrival 

  • Ensure the lift environment is kept secure at all times and that all on-site procedures/customer requirements, e.g. sign-in, work permits, site access, etc. are adhered to 

  • Report any unsafe practises, incidents, accidents (inc. those reportable to RIDDOR, Environment Agency, etc.) and near misses 

  • Attend team briefs, safety meetings, tool box talks, etc. 

  • Ensure your issued PPE/RPE is fit for purpose, maintained, stored correctly and worn as required for each task undertaken 

  • Ensure any COSHH substance is listed on the company database before use and used/stored in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure safe usage and maximise environmental protection. Ensure safety datasheets and assessments are available for all substances

  • Only use portable electrical appliances that have been PAT tested and that any test equipment used to perform a SAFed test is calibrated 

  • Identify at planning stage any environmental aspects and minimise any environmental impact 

  • Contribute to any processes for employee consultation and participation 

  • Adhere to the company’s HS&E objective to minimise waste through the strategy of ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’.  Ensure all waste is disposed of responsibly and where required by licensed disposal, supported by a waste transfer note. Maintain records 

  • Ensure energy use, emissions to air, releases to water/land, waste generation etc. are suitably considered in order to minimise any environmental impact 

  • Be an ambassador for our company in terms of your conduct and behaviour and help drive the company culture of ‘Aiming Higher’

  

 2. Qualifications. Typified skillset includes as a minimum:

  • NVQ3 or equivalent

  • 3 years’+ lift experience across numerous manufacturer’s equipment

  • Good customer service skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Full UK driving license

  • Excellent time management
     

You will have an appropriate understanding of all relevant legislation, standards and regulations and seek guidance whenever required.

 

3. Industry Experience

You will have gained an appropriate level of lift industry knowledge to understand and meet the requirements of the role.

           

4. Continual Improvement

You will contribute to our culture of continual improvement across the business. This may require you to challenge existing practises where appropriate and provide constructive feedback to help improve our business and the customer’s experience.
